An oral history of Sister Stella Marie Beckel, a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill from 1925 until 1999. The interview was conducted by Sister James Marie Malone on March 19, 1984.
Sister Stella Marie Beckel - born Edna Beckel on April 6, 1906 - entered the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in September of 1925. She received a bachelor's degree in history from Seton Hill College in 1938 and a master's degree in history from Duquesne University in 1945. She taught at schools in Arizona from 1970-1988, as well as in Pennsylvania throughout her teaching career. She was principal of Elizabeth Seton High School in Brookline, Pennsylvania from 1956-1959. She died on October 13, 1999.
