Personal papers of Mother Ann Regina Ennis, the second Major Superior of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Pennsylvania from 1889 until 1894. Sister Ann Regina, born May Ennis, entered the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati in 1863. She was among the first companions of Mother Aloysia in establishing Sisters of Charity in the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 1870. Sister Ann Regina served as the Assistant Mother and Mistress of Novices. When Mother Aloysia resigned from the superiorship in 1889, Sister Ann Regina was elected. During her tenure, plans for St. Joseph Chapel at Seton Hill began and Roselia Foundling and Maternity Hospital was opened. Mother Ann Regina died rather suddenly as the result of surgery for a tumor in 1894.
