An oral history of Sister Mary Thaddeus McManama, a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill from 1930 until 1997. The interview was conducted by Sister Jean Ann Wilburn on March 14, 1987.
Sister Mary Thaddeus McManama was born on June 16, 1905. Daughter of Robert W. McManama and Clara Rose Martin, Lucy G. McManama entered the community on March 25, 1930 as Sister Mary Thaddeus McManama.
Sister Mary Thaddeus initially joined the faculty of Seton Hill College as a math teacher in 1941, and continued teaching at the college until her retirement in 1986. From 1965 to 1970 she also served as the director of the campus Public Information and in 1970 she became the college archivist, which she continued until 1980.
Sister Mary Thaddeus earned her B.A. in Math and Social Studies from Seton Hill College in 1937 and earned her M.S. in Math from the University of Pittsburgh in 1946. She also pursued summer graduate work in Math from Columbia University from 1943 to 1945, and in Statistics from the University of Chicago from 1947 to 1948. She was a member of the American College Public Relations Association and was renowned within her field for her dedication to service.
Sister Mary Thaddeus McManama passed away on June 18, 1997 at the age of 92.
