An oral history of Sister Mary Eustace Mullen, a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill from 1912 until 1983. The interview was conducted by Sister Jean Ann Wilburn on May 12, 1982.
Sister Mary Eustace Mullen - born Mary Catherine Mullen on October 23, 1894 - entered the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in September of 1912. Sister Mary Eustace received a bachelor's degree in education from Duquesne University in 1936. She served as a teacher at St. Joseph School in Sharpsburg, St. James Elementary School in Wilkinsburg, and at the House of Mary in Pittsburgh's Hill District for brief periods of time in the forties and fifties. She also served as a Sister Servant at Holy Cross School in Youngwood from 1945-1950. In the mid-fifties, she travelled west to Arizona where she taught at SS. Peter & Paul School in Tucson from 1953-1956 and at St. Mary-Basha Elementary School in Chandler from 1956-1957. Back east, she taught at St. Regis School in Trafford from 1957-1962 and was in residence at St. John the Evangelist in Pittsburgh from 1962-1970. Sister Mary Eustace died on May 30, 1983.
