An oral history of Sister Mary Josephine McClory, a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill from 1921 until 1985. The interview was conducted by Sister Marie Corona Miller on February 19 and 20, 1985.
Sister Mary Josephine McClory was born on July 14, 1891 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Daughter of John McClory and Elizabeth Boyce, Anna Marie McClory entered the community on June 3, 1921 at the age of 19 as Sister Mary Josephine McClory.
Sister Mary Josephine worked throughout her ministry as a housekeeper for many of the Sisters of Charity’s convents throughout Pennsylvania, including Cathedral, Altoona; Our Lady of Mercy, Johnstown; Sacred Heart, Shadyside, Pittsburgh; and Saint John the Evangelist, Southside, Pittsburgh. She retired in 1943 due to poor health, and later worked as a switchboard operator at Assumption Hall.
Sister Mary Josephine McClory passed away on June 2, 1985 at the age of 93.
