Sister Clara Marie McManama was born on March 27, 1908. Daughter of Robert W. McManama and Clara Rose Martin, Elizabeth Martha McManama entered the community on December 8, 1931 as Sister Clara Marie McManama.
Sister Clara Marie worked as a parish bookkeeper for 6 years before entering the community. She spent her ministry as a nurse at Pittsburgh Hospital. She served a variety of roles here, including as Supervisor of the Medical-Surgical Wards, as Clinical Instructor of Medical-Surgical Nursing, as Assistant Director of Nursing Service, and as Supervisor and as Co-ordinator of Out-Patient Services, as well as teaching Medical-Surgical Nursing at the Hospital’s School of Nursing for two years. She also served as an instructor for the Practical Nurse School at Roselia Foundling and Maternity Hospital.
Sister Clara Marie earned her R.N. in Basic Nursing at Pittsburgh Hospital in 1941, her B.S. in Nursing Education from Duquesne University in 1945, and her M.S. in Med-surgical Nursing from Catholic University in 1963.
Sister Clara Marie McManama passed away on December 24, 1991 at the age of 83.
