An oral history of Sister Joseph Louise Reilly, a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill from 1922 until 2003. The interview was conducted by Sister Marie Corona Miller on April 13, 1987.
Sister Joseph Louise Reilly was born on April 20th, 1903 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Daughter of Patrick J. Reilly and Catherine A Myron, Mary Agnes Reilly entered the community on December 8th, 1922 at the age of 19 as Sister Joseph Louise Reilly.
Sister Joseph Louise taught upper elementary for 1 year and secondary for 39 years. She was an elementary librarian for 3 years and then 6 years for secondary. She was an administrator in elementary for 6 years and secondary for 6 years. She taught and administrated at Bishop Carroll High School in Ebensburg, St. Pancratius School in Lakewood, CA, and St. James in the West End.
Sister Joseph Louise Reilly received her B.S. in Business and a Minor in History from the University of Pittsburgh in 1942. Then, in 1953, she received her Certification in Library Science from Duquesne Unversity. Her father was born in Ireland and her mother was born in England.
Sister Joseph Louise Reilly passed on March 16th, 2003 at the age of 99.
