An oral history of Sister Rita Ann Woods, a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill from 1929 until 1987. The interview was conducted by Sister Jean Ann Wilburn on April 12, 1987.
Sister Rita Ann Woods was born on May 16th, 1913 in Hazelwood, Pa (Pittsburgh). Daughter of William Woods and Anne McKnight, Margaret Catherine Woods entered the community on September 8th, 1929 at the age of 16 as Sister Rita Ann Woods.
Sr. Rita Woods taught elementary music at Saint Anselm from 1950 to 1955. Receiving her bachelor's degree from Seton Hill and Duquesne, Sister Rita went on to studying mathematics at the University of Arizona in 1965. She was also a music teacher at Sacred Heart, Pittsburgh from 1960-1963, Glyndon from 1958-1959, and Casa Elizabeth Seton from 1963-1966/67 and 1969-1970. She retired in 1970 to Assumption Hall Infirmary, Greensburg. She was baptized on June 8th, 1913 and her Final Procession was May 5th, 1949.
Sister Rita Ann Woods passed on August 16st, 1987 at the age of 74.
