Methods of Meditation
Meditation is serious reflection on the truth of our religion, made for the purpose of amending our lives.
It consists of Preparation, Reflection, and Thanksgiving.
1. Preparation - It is remote and proximate.
A. Remote preparation consists in purity of heart and recollection. "Blessed are the clean of heart; for they shall see God." Recollection is obtained by guarding the senses, and by thinking often of the presence of God. [Excerpt]
