Flynn, Sister Marietta
An oral history of Sister Marietta Flynn, a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill from 1922 until 1993. The interview was conducted by Sister Marie Corona Miller on March 18, 1987.
Sister Marietta Flynn - born Mary Grace Flynn on January 4, 1904 - entered the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in September of 1922. She received a bachelor's degree in Latin and Spanish from Duquesne University in 1933, a master's degree in classics (also from Duquesne) in 1943, and a master's degree in library science from Marywood College in 1957. She served at St. Luke's School in Carnegie, Elizabeth Seton High School in Brookline, and Holy Innocents in Pittsburgh, among others. She was the librarian at Sacred Heart School in Pittsburgh from 1967-1980, and created an outreach program to help other librarians. Sister Marietta died on March 11, 1993.
